The Hong Kong Institute of Education’s Department of Cultural and Creative Arts and the
Hong Kong Association for Music Educators (HAME) are proud to present the 2012 Jazz
Music Education Festival in February 2012, and would like to invite local and international
schools choral and jazz ensemble groups, as well as teachers to participate in this exciting
event.This unique 3-day festival will highlight choral and instrumental jazz activities. Local and
international school ensembles as well as teachers will have a unique chance to work with
outstanding overseas artist including Professor Tim Brimmer and Dr. Matthew Pivec from
Butler University, as well as Dr. Kirby Shaw, the Father of Choral Jazz and renowned
composer in a variety of choral and instrumental jazz education workshops, demonstrations,
seminars and performances.Highlights of the Festival

• Constructive workshops, education seminars and rehearsals with guest artists, choral conductors/trainers, composers and musicians;
• Collaboration with HKIEd Vocal and Jazz Ensembles, outstanding local and international school choirs & jazz ensemble for cultural and choral exchange activities;
• Opportunity to interact with Hong Kong Institute of Education’s (HKIEd) CCA music faculty and students to share innovative ideas on Jazz Music learning and teaching in school setting; &
• Gala concert presented by HKIEd and Hong Kong Association for Music Educators
